Phi Beta Chi at Texas A&M was established in 1986. Nationally the sorority begain in 1978 with it's first charter group at the University of Illinois.
The Zeta Chapter of Phi Beta Chi at Texas A&M University has a rich history and a strong alumnae support base. . We are seeking members at this time who will support the core principals of our sorority and rely on the fact that we are "Developing lifetime leaders to serve humanity through our sisterhood" as our vision statement announces.
The basis of our sisterhood is balanced on what we call the "Three C's". These are Chapter (our sisterhood), Church (spiritual development) and Community (philanthropic activities). There are opportunities for a variety of activities during each semester providing for a well rounded and close sisterhood. Each spring all chapters host an annual formal: White Rose Ball. Some chapters even host a fall semester semi formal. One of the wonderful things about Phi Beta Chi Nationally is that the National Executive Council supports each chapter and guides us to be the best we can be. Within that guideance we are allowed flexibility to create memories and traditions that are special to our chapter, campus and community while still upholding the creed of Phi Beta Chi.
We strictly enforce a No-Hazing and No-Alcohol policy and those activities are never tollerated in Phi Beta Chi. This sets us apart from many sisterhoods as we only participate in activities that meet these criteria. We understand this limits our ability to mix within the greek community or at some local community events - but it's a standard that we're not willing to relax.
Another item that sets Phi Beta Chi apart from others is that we don't have housing requirements. There are no housing fees, no housing requirements and therefore the cost of membership is much less than other traditional sororities. While some of our sisters often room together this is done as a personal and private option - nothing that is required by the sorority.
If your interested in learning more about our sorority just ask - we don't hold anything secret. We'd love to introduce you to our sorority and provide detailed information to assist you in making a more informed decision about potential membership.
Thank You!
